Key Benefits

Leadership is a key factor in the success of an organization, yet leadership isn't a skill that managers and supervisors are born knowing. This three-day workshop is a thorough exploration of leadership skills in action.

What You Will Cover

Leadership in Action is a three day workshop that will give you the opportunity to practice new leadership skills while you learn them. We will take an extensive look at the performance triangle, the situational leadership model and self-leadership, building accountability, communication as a leadership skill, giving feedback that makes a difference, building commitment, coaching skills for the leaders and the Coaching Skills Inventory, and engaging the generations in the workplace.

Other Items we will cover include:
The leader's role in creating a team, Developing problem solving skills, Motivating your team, and Learning to delegate.

  • Recognizing the difference between leading and managing

Leadership and Management tend to be seen as similar concepts but they have many differences. Leadership is a motivational and positive way of getting good results from your employees. By using leadership you will increase productivity and create a more positive work environment for you and your employees.

  • Understanding how the situational leadership model works

The situational leadership model is designed to show that effective leadership varies, not only with the person or group that is being influence, but it will also depend on the task, job or function that needs to be accomplished. This course will introduce you to this type of leadership and show you how you can use the model in your organization.

  • Developing core communication skills

Regardless of the size of your organization, communication skills are essential for success. Effective communication is all about conveying your messages to other people clearly. It's also about receiving information that others are sending to you, with as little misinterpretation as possible. Part of being a good leader is being a good communicator. Through the Leadership in Action course you will learn crucial communication skills that will help you and your employees.

  • Identifying the critical steps to becoming a coach for your employees

For an organization to be healthy and productive, it must have strong leadership. By being a good coach you will help your employees become more effective in their position, build stronger workplace relationships, and promote a more positive work environment. The Leadership in Action course will show you how to be the best workplace coach you can be.

  • Recognizing the stages of team growth and the supervisor's role

B.W. Tuckman introduced the concept that all teams go through four "stages" of growth - Forming, Storming, Norming, and Performing - and that the mood of the team changes as it moves through these stages. As a supervisor, understanding this model makes it possible to more readily diagnose what is happening with the team dynamics over time and to accommodate the needs of the team at each stage. The Leadership in Action course will help you do just that.

  • Identifying some useful strategies for better solutions to problems

As humans, we go about the task of problem solving every day. Whether these problems are big or small, they still effect how we work and live. Having good problem solving strategies will help you overcome the problems you face every day, whether at work or at home. Learning these skills will help you get through the problems quickly and effectively so that you can get back to the task at hand.

  • Knowing how to create motivation in employees without money

It's no secret. Employees who feel they are valued and recognized for the work they do are more motivated, responsible and productive. In addition, supervisors and managers can create a more dynamic, loyal and energized workplace when employees are encouraged to search out their strengths and use them every day. The Leadership in Action course will give you some great ideas to motivate your employees without using money.

  • Becoming better at delegating to employees

Delegating is a critical skill for supervisors. It involves working with an employee to establish goals, granting them sufficient authority and responsibility to achieve the goals, etc. Ultimately, the supervisor retains responsibility for the attainment of the goals, but chooses to achieve the goals by delegating to someone else. Supervisors that can effectively delegate can free up a great deal of their own time, give their employees a chance to grow within the organization, and can help to develop their own leadership skills.
