What You Will Cover
You will explore many of the facets of delegation: when to delegate, who to delegate to, and the step-by-step delegation process. If you are in a position where you should be delegating to others, but aren't, or recognize that your delegation skills are not as good as they should be, this is the workshop for you.
The advantages of learning how to delegate effectively- Learning how to delegate is an important part of leading a group. The Delegation course will show you the key advantages of learning how to delegate effectively.
The scope of what you should and should not be delegating- As a delegator you must be able to distinguish between what should and should not be delegated. For instance, if you are more qualified to do a certain task then you shouldn't expect someone else to do the task. The Delegation course will help you to identify what you should and should not delegate so that your team is comfortable with the tasks you have set out for them.
Matching tasks and people- Part of being a good delegator is knowing who to assign each task to. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses and, as a delegator, you should be able to match their strengths with certain tasks. Conducting a delegation meeting- Delegation meetings are an important part of having an organized team. When everyone is together at one time to discuss who will be doing each task there are no confusions to worry about. Many managers fall into the trap by taking the assignment back. This is called upward delegation. This course will give you tips on how to stay away from upward delegation.
Downward delegation and how to deal with it- Downward delegation is the more traditional form of delegating. As long as it is done correctly things run smoothly.
