Sustainability Policy
Public Transport - We encourage public transport and walking whenever practical. Whenever possible, meetings are conducted by telephone or if this is not possible, through efficient timing of meetings to avoid multiple trips. We support alternative working arrangements such as working from home whenever feasible.
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle- As far as possible we reuse or recycle office waste such as computer supplies and redundant material. Food materials are composted. The kitchen area is supplied with traditional dishes, cups, glasses etc. and staff are encouraged to use these rather than disposable containers. All courseware is out sourced to an offsite printer who in March 2010 won (TPH) Gold for the "Most Environmentally Progressive Manufacturing Process or Service, Printer" in Canada.
Energy Conscious - We reduce energy consumption whenever possible by purchasing energy efficient equipment and turning off lights and equipment when not in use.
Volunteerism- We encourage voluntary work within and with the communities in which we work. We support Bridgeway Academy and Ronald McDonald Children's Charity with financial and volunteer support.
Think Training has for a number of years made supervisory or other training available at no cost for non-profit groups such as Phoenix House.
Apprenticeships and mentorship opportunities- Think Training hires summer students from local universities such as Kings College, and is always open to partnerships or opportunities with other local academic or vocational institutions.
Supporting Nova Scotia- We have a long history of supporting the Nova Scotia economy by forming partnerships with local colleagues and collaborators, working with local facilitators and trainers, purchasing equipment and supplies from the local area, and using local services such as the Printing House, ITO Hosting and Computer Freak whenever possible.
Orientation and training- All employees who are hired to either full or part-time positions are made aware of Think Trainings policies practices toward sustainability.
Health and safety- Think Training wants all employees to work in a safe and healthy environment. All reports of unhealthy surroundings or unsafe practices are investigated immediately and steps are taken to ensure the issue is resolved.
